Choosing a translation
King James Version (KJV)
Beautiful, traditional English from 1611. Public domain, but the older vocabulary can be hard going at first.
New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
Widely used by scholars and across many traditions. Careful and readable.
New International Version (NIV)
Common in evangelical churches. Balances readability with accuracy.
Good News / Contemporary English
Simple vocabulary. A good choice if English is a second language or reading is difficult.
The Message
A loose paraphrase, not a translation. Helpful for a fresh take, less suited to close study.
